Paula's Miracle In Progress: Rough Day......

Rough Day......

Paula's had a rough day...she's been fighting a fever since 9:00 A.M. and has really been struggling with restlessness....she's been a handful! The fever subsided around 6:40 P.M. and she's been resting well since about 7-7:15

Good news....I think! Scott went to Argentina to see his girlfriend Luchi for 3 weeks. They had not seen each other for a year, they've been communicating via e-mail/web cam. I got a text from Luchi a few minutes ago that said "I have another ring....and the answer was yes!" So I think that means engagement......I think?!?!

Something else for Paula to celebrate when she wakes up! God's mercies are new every morning! Planning two weddings! How exciting. Paula will certainly be up to the task.
Oh, how I missed her bread this Christmas. You know, she's baked about twenty loaves for me for the last five or six Christmases. I'm looking forward to some more when she's well!
She remains in all our thoughts and prayers.
I sent a card to the place on Walton Way but maybe they'll forward it to MCG or hold it for her.

The Station........

Tucked away in our subconscious is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on a long trip that spans the continent. We are traveling by train. Out the windows we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of children waiving at a crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant hillside, of smoke pouring from a power plant, of row upon row of corns and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of mountains and rolling hillsides, of city skylines and village halls.
But uppermost in our minds is the final destination. On a certain day at a certain hour we will pull into the station. Bands will be playing and flags waiving. Once we get there so many wonderful dreams will come true and the pieces of our lives will fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. How restlessly we pace the aisles, damning the minutes for loitering--waiting, waiting, waiting for the station.
"When we reach the station, that will be it," we cry. "When I'm 18." "When I buy a new 450 SL Mercedes Benz!" "When I put the last kid through college." "When I have paid off the mortgage!" "When I get a promotion." "When I reach the age of retirement, I shall live happily ever after!"
Sooner of later we must realize that there is no station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.
"Relish the moment" is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm 118:24 "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets over yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today.
So, stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more, cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. The station will come soon enough.

My Prayer for Paula

Psalm 18
For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:
1 I love you, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn [a] of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
5 The cords of the grave [b] coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
