Paula's Miracle In Progress: Moved.....

Moved.....

We moved Paula today to Walton West. From Lincolnton, you go to Augusta on Washington Rd, go past I-20, turn left on the 2nd street, Bertram Rd (there is no road sign, it is just past Red Lobster and next to Wachovia), go to Center West Pkwy and you'll see Walton West). But Walton West is not condusive to visits because of the schedule.

From what I saw today, Paula is as close to normal more so than ANY of the other patients. And when she tried to help in the kitchen.....they wouldn't let her. I'm not really impressed with Walton West's ability to help people that are as advanced as Paula.

Tommorow, I will be in contact with the administrators/nurses at Walton West....and sorry to say....the insurance company......but Paula WILL learn and/or rehabilitate faster here at home than she will there......Paula IS doing GREAT.....and I think she is more advanced than their "plan" for her, so I'll probably bring her home on Friday.

Don't mistake this as a criticism of Walton West....it is NOT.....I just feel that Paula IS.....more advanced.....and we and the ladies of our church....and this community can help Paula more than they. At home....she can do meaningful things that REALLY mean something to her.

Again, I've made some changes to the blog, so if you haven't been able to post.....please try again. I know your comments will mean so much to Paula....and also, myself!

I found the blog and even though I was just going to read a few entries, I have read the whole thing! It has really been such a joy to meet you guys and people like Paula keep us doing what we do. I'd love to hear when she comes home for real so I can let everyone know...I had a feeling she wouldn't be at Walton West very long (I even thought it might just be a few days)! Paula--my kitties say hi to your kitties (what was the word you called them?)!

Paula, we can't wait for you to come home and be back with us!! I know God has always had a special plan for your life. It is going to be wonderful to watch the next phase unfold. God is good all the time - all the time He is good!

Tommy, thanks for calling me!! It was wonderful to talk to Paula. She sounded great. I know that our Father in Heaven hears and answers prayers and Paula is another example of that truth. She has a family and friends that love her very much. Our prayers are for you as well, Tommy, since I know all too well how much energy it takes to be in so many places at once while also caring for the sweetheart that you love. May God richly bless you and your family during this time of healing.

The Station........

Tucked away in our subconscious is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on a long trip that spans the continent. We are traveling by train. Out the windows we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of children waiving at a crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant hillside, of smoke pouring from a power plant, of row upon row of corns and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of mountains and rolling hillsides, of city skylines and village halls.
But uppermost in our minds is the final destination. On a certain day at a certain hour we will pull into the station. Bands will be playing and flags waiving. Once we get there so many wonderful dreams will come true and the pieces of our lives will fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. How restlessly we pace the aisles, damning the minutes for loitering--waiting, waiting, waiting for the station.
"When we reach the station, that will be it," we cry. "When I'm 18." "When I buy a new 450 SL Mercedes Benz!" "When I put the last kid through college." "When I have paid off the mortgage!" "When I get a promotion." "When I reach the age of retirement, I shall live happily ever after!"
Sooner of later we must realize that there is no station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.
"Relish the moment" is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm 118:24 "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets over yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today.
So, stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more, cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. The station will come soon enough.

My Prayer for Paula

Psalm 18
For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:
1 I love you, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn [a] of my salvation, my stronghold.
