Paula's Miracle In Progress: Healed......

Healed......

Paula had a good day today.....but she has REALLY gotten fixated on coming home. They will do another swallow test on Paula, and the Speech Therapist said she felt sure Paula would pass it and be able to go on a normal diet. The "thickened" liquids that they're giving her are NOT quenching her thirst. They will also take out her feeding tube VERY soon. Also, they may let Paula come home for a 6-8 Hr visit in the near future......and I think this will be good for her rehabilitation. She told me yesterday that she didn't remember her cats or our house, so I took pictures this AM, printed them out and showed her this afternoon....and she DID remember our house.

The Physical Therapist today was amazed at the difference in Paula since last Friday.....she told Paula, "You have improved SO much since Friday.....what happened over the weekend to make this BIG difference?" Paula replied, "I was healed."!!!!!!!!

God IS good!!!!

It has to be hard for you to see the progress since you are with her every day. BUT! I promise you the progress is EXTRAORDINARY! OK, I'm not an expert, but every time I see her the change is exponential! I pray for you, Tommy, as well as Paula. I know that this situation is testing all of your strength and patience. We continue to pray for you so that you can endure the waiting and support Paula through the healing. You have already told us that it IS here and that we are just waiting. And it is coming very fast!! Maybe not in a way you can experienc "fast," but really IT IS FAST!

The Station........

Tucked away in our subconscious is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on a long trip that spans the continent. We are traveling by train. Out the windows we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of children waiving at a crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant hillside, of smoke pouring from a power plant, of row upon row of corns and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of mountains and rolling hillsides, of city skylines and village halls.
But uppermost in our minds is the final destination. On a certain day at a certain hour we will pull into the station. Bands will be playing and flags waiving. Once we get there so many wonderful dreams will come true and the pieces of our lives will fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. How restlessly we pace the aisles, damning the minutes for loitering--waiting, waiting, waiting for the station.
"When we reach the station, that will be it," we cry. "When I'm 18." "When I buy a new 450 SL Mercedes Benz!" "When I put the last kid through college." "When I have paid off the mortgage!" "When I get a promotion." "When I reach the age of retirement, I shall live happily ever after!"
Sooner of later we must realize that there is no station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.
"Relish the moment" is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm 118:24 "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets over yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today.
So, stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more, cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. The station will come soon enough.

My Prayer for Paula

Psalm 18
For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:
1 I love you, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn [a] of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
